Education:

Let's start with the
basics.
Clean water belongs to YOU!
Not to industries, municipalities, animal factories, or
agribusiness.... YOU! There is no right to discharge into
rivers, lakes, and streams. The fundamental legal and common law
prohibitions against polluting our water were re-stated in a
series of landmark legislative actions in 1972 referred to as
the Clean Water Act. It is just as illegal for an animal
factory to allow manure runoff to reach the nearest stream, as
it is for an industry to flush toxic waste down the drain, or a
municipality to inadequately treat the town's domestic waste.
As you follow the links of this
page, we hope you will begin to understand some of the
challenges facing Iowans as we struggle to protect and restore
our rivers, lakes and streams, and that you will learn about
ways you can help!
