BIRDING:  

April 22 (Birding):   Earth Day Hike, Sunday, April 22, 2007,  Effigy Mounds, Harpers Ferry

                        a.       10:00am Guided Bird /Walk

                        b.      11:00am Woodland wildflower hike (1 ½ hrs)

                  Meet at Hy-Vee, Logan Ave in Waterloo at 8:00am to carpool

 

NOTE TIME CHANGE FOR APRIL 22ND EVENT.  We will depart  Hy-Vee at 8:00am

Nov. 10:     6th Annual Rivers and Bluffs Fall birding Migration Festival in Lansing, IA: 

                   Saturday, November 10, 7:30am       

                   Meet at HyVee, Logan Ave in Waterloo at 7:30am to carpool

 

TREE PLANTING:   

April 27:   Arbor Day Tree Planting: Friday, April 27, 5:30pm

                  Meet Denver City Hall

March 24:    Pioneer Cemetery Workday: Saturday, March 24, 1:00 pm

                     Meet at HyVee, Logan Ave, and Waterloo to prepare for burn at Bennington

                     Township Cemetery/rural Dunkerton. Bring rakes; wear gloves, long pants, and

                     long sleeves.

May 13:       Visit Wolters Prairie near Clarksville: Sunday, May 13, 1:00 pm

          Meet at Shellrock Kwik Star, Hwy 3 to carpool

 June 10:       Visit Cedar Hills Sand Prairie, North of Cedar Falls in Butler County

                      Sunday, June 10, 1:00pm

                      Meet at Happy Chef in Cedar Falls, 1st St. to  carpool 

 June 21:       Tour UNI Tall Grass Prairie Center: Thursday, June 21, 6:00pm,

                      Meet North of UNI- Dome

 July 7:        Bennington Pioneer Cemetery/rural - Remove invasive species,

                    Dunkerton: Saturday, July 7, 10:00am

                    Meet at HyVee Logan Ave. Waterloo to carpool, wear long sleeves, long pants,

                    hats, gloves

July 8:        Visit Hayden Prairie near Lime Springs: Sunday, July 8, 11:00am

                    Meet at Kwik Star, Denver to carpool

 July 19:      Waverly Rail Trail - Remove invasive species, Thursday, July 19, 6:00 pm,

                   Meet at Kill Deer trail head northeast of Denver

IOWATER MONITORING:

 May 20, July 15, October 21: Meet Sundays at 2:00 pm

              Black Hawk Creek, Waterloo, an impaired waterway

 

RIVER CLEAN UP: 

 July 14:    Cedar River Festival and Cedar River clean up:  Saturday, July 14,          site/time TBD

 

ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION EVENTS:

 April 29:  Paddle Fest, Gateway Park, Cedar Falls, 11 am –6:00 pm 

July 13:   Cedar River Festival, Gateway Park, Cedar Falls, 6:00 pm-9:00pm

 

TRAIL WALK AND CUP OF JOE:

 February 25, March 18, April 15: Meet 2:00 pm at Mendaley Park,

              Cedar Falls, 1st and Main St (Across from Cup of Joes)
